← Notch
Changelog
What changed in each version. Newest first.
1.1 2026-06-27
Fixed
- Notch content now respects the physical camera dead zone. The collapsed pill widens to show Dynamic Island–style ears when a session is active: pulsing dot in the left ear, live timer in the right ear. Content never renders behind the camera lens.
- Notch shape polished: flat top edge (screen-flush), convex rounded bottom corners — removes corner-wedge artifacts on real hardware.
- Paywall subtitle copy strengthened to make the lifetime model clearer.
1.0 2026-06-11
First App Store release.
Added
- Opt-in crash reporting via Sentry (off by default). New Settings → Privacy & Diagnostics tab with a single toggle and a clear disclosure of what's sent and what's never sent.
- In-app update checker: pings
notch.rocks/version.json once every 24 hours. Anonymous single GET, no behavior data. Toggleable in Settings → Privacy.
Changed
- Quit Notch is now available from the menu-bar left-click menu (previously required right-click / Cmd+Q).
- Paywall recovers gracefully when StoreKit is slow to load products.
- Self-updater removed to comply with Mac App Store distribution guidelines (App Store handles all updates).
0.1.0 2026-05-10
First public-facing build. Pre-launch.
Added
- Focus timer for any Mac — in the notch on MacBook Pro / Air with notch, in the menu bar everywhere else
- Triple-tap Caps Lock to start a session — system-wide trigger that doesn't fight Cursor / VS Code / Xcode / DevTools
- Watch Mode — auto-suggests a session when you sit back down at your Mac
- Smart check-ins: off / halfway / every 15 minutes
- Inactivity auto-pause (configurable threshold)
- Productivity tiers (10) and achievement system
- 7-day local history (free) / unlimited history (Pro)
- Activity templates with autocomplete from past sessions
- Settings: Timer, Overlay, Sounds, Activities, Watch, Hotkeys, Stats, Leaderboard, Achievements, Privacy, About
- Mac App Store IAP at $14.99 one-time (Pro)
- Family Sharing enabled
- Sandboxed (App Sandbox + Hardened Runtime), local-only
Privacy
- No account, no cloud, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs by default
- Sandbox-enforced — verifiable in the app bundle
- Only network calls: Apple StoreKit + (optional) opt-in crash reports + the daily anonymous version check
Known limitations
- Menubar-fallback mode for non-notch Macs is functional but not a launch marketing surface
- No Apple Watch app, no iCloud sync, no team features (by design)
